Thank You

We are so thankful to all our customers, old and new, and to the crowd of Lakesiders who have been part of our team over the years. Having the opportunity to run a business in Lakeside fills us with gratitude.

What you know is that you have supported our family by purchasing from our little shop. What you might not know is that you have already, either directly or indirectly, contributed to our partner work in Guatemala. Scroll down to learn more.

An elderly man with white hair working on a construction site, sawing a piece of wood with a hand saw, while standing on a concrete block. There is a ladder and wooden framing in the background.
A young girl with blonde hair is carrying a toddler on her back using a colorful wrap. They are in a rustic kitchen with a wood-fueled stove, and a woman is cooking in the background. The kitchen appears simple and functional, with hanging pots and utensils.

WE ♥ GUATEMALA

Nearly 30 years ago, while honeymooning in Central America, Guatemala captured our hearts. The hospitality of the people, the rich and colorful culture, the breathtaking landscapes, and the real needs of many families keep drawing us back.

We partner with a trusted local organization doing practical, life-saving work. Over the years, we’ve seen homes built, clean water provided, families fed, adults trained, and malnourished infants nursed back to health. Children and young people are supported, mentored, and given the chance to grow.

It’s meaningful work—and we’re grateful to be part of it.

Colorful houses with red-tiled roofs along a cobblestone street, decorated with vibrant flowers in pots, situated in a lush, mountainous landscape.

Thank You

We’d love to invite you to join us in the good work happening in Guatemala.

for the ways you’ve already been part of this good work in Guatemala
—simply by paying attention to lives beyond your own.

Because of the generosity of the Lakeside community:

  • Lakesiders have funded five homes for families in need—each equipped with a stove, water filter, bunk beds, and an initial supply of food.

  • In 2025, members of our community traveled to Guatemala and helped build two homes together.

  • A portion of every purchase at the Kite Shop helps support this work year-round.

Thank you for being part of something bigger than our small summer shop.
